A Question of Character
by John M. Abernathy & Steven Abernathy
"What if the President of the United States was also a murderer? D.C. Metro police detective Colin Franks finds he must deal with that question as his investigation into a body found in a D.C. park leads him toward the nation's highest office. Federal investigators insist the death is a suicide, but Franks thinks otherwise, and with the assistance of a conspiracy theorist, and a Secret Service agent with a nagging conscience, the detective violates department orders and follows the trail of political intrigue and murder all the way to the White House. Along the way he discovers corruption, dissention, an assassination plot, and a treasure trove of historical artifacts hidden since the Civil War. This fast paced and thrilling novel shows us that in the world of politics, it all comes down to A Question of Character.
Dr. Steven Abernathy resides with his wife of thirty-five years, Michele, in Destin, Florida, where the sugar-white sand and the emerald water are eternally conducive to relaxation and writing fiction. They have two sons, one of whom is a computer engineer, and the other is co-author of this book. When he is not writing, Steven maintains part-time dental practices in Clearwater, Florida and in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His political interest developed in the 1980s when he was a candidate for U. S. Congress from Arkansas.
John Abernathy graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2004 with a degree in Video/Film Production with emphasis on writing and directing films. He has written, directed, produced or otherwise been involved in several short films, some of which have won industry awards, and two feature-length movies. While this is his first novel, he has written many other short stories and screenplays. He resides in Los Angeles, California."
